Why color matters for brands?

We live in a colorful world. Our mind is highly responsive to visual stimulation on both a conscious and subconscious level. Colors will bring up certain emotions and feelings. And that is why one of the key elements of building a ever-lasting brand is color selection.

“Research reveals people make a subconscious judgment about a person, environment, or product within 90 seconds of initial viewing and that between 62% and 90% of that assessment is based on color alone.”

As a designer, I have been dealing with colors all the time. From color for brand, book cover to website, mobile games… Once a client asked me, why can he just use his favorite color for his brand. This color chart should answer that question and probably many people with the same question in the business world.

Choosing a color for a brand shouldn’t be personal. Before you select the color for your brand, ask yourself these questions:

What color represents your brand’s personality? What color suits the characteristics of your products/services? What color does your competitor(s) use?
